HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – A 20-year-old- Hackettstown man was arrested after police say he took the victims cell phone and then fled from police.
It happened at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, when town police responded to a residence on Main St in reference to a theft complaint.
Through a police investigation, they determined that Ian Rossi had an argument with the victim over a Motorola Tracfone. He took the cell phone and then left the residence, police said.
Ian was located on Valentine St and then he fled from the officer. Ian was apprehended at the intersection of West Stiger St and Beatty St, police said.
Ian had in his possession five wax folds with suspected heroin residue, a handmade foil pipe with suspected CDS residue, a hypodermic needle containing suspected heroin residue and a silver teaspoon with suspected CDS residue. Ian also had a $500.00 Mansfield Twp. criminal warrant.
Ian was charged with theft by unlawful taking, resisting arrest, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ian was released on the Hackettstown charges pending a court appearance and he was then turned over to the Mansfield Twp. police.
The cell phone was returned to the victim, police said.
