SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, P.A. (Monroe County) – A 15-year-old Blair Academy student died Monday night following a skiing accident at Shawnee Mountain Ski Area.
According to officials at Shawnee, Juliette Dajani lost control and skied off the bottom of a trail, colliding with an orange safety fence.
“Juliette was rushed to Pocono Medical Center and despite every effort on the part of the medical team, Juliette passed away from her injuries,” Head of School Christopher Fortunato said.
Dajani was a freshman at Blair Academy and a member of the ski team. She was at Shawnee Mountain for a ski team event.
In a letter sent to alumni on Tuesday, Fortunato said, “There are no words to adequately express our deep sadness at the unimaginable loss of one of our students, but I wanted to inform our parent body as soon as possible so you can help our children process this difficult news.”
To ensure the students at Blair Academy are supported in every way possible, their entire faculty and counseling staff were present in the dorms and across the campus.
