NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Hackettstown man was sentenced to 364 days in jail, including a period of 180 days in which he is not eligible for parole, with credit for 55 days’ time served after being convicted of driving with a suspended license, the prosecutor’s office said.
Anthony Girgenti, 56, was sentenced by Judge William J. McGovern III at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 20.
On March 3, 2015, Girgenti was convicted in the Mansfield Township Municipal Court of his third offense of driving while intoxicated and his driver’s license was suspended as a part of his sentence. On August 28, 2015, Girgenti operated a motor vehicle in Andover Township during that period of driver’s license suspension.
Girgenti was convicted on November 3, 2016, after a jury trial to fourth degree driving while suspended and failure to produce a valid insurance card.
In addition to jail time, Girgenti was also sentenced to 2 years’ probation, was ordered to submit to a Treatment Assessment Services for the Courts and mental health evaluations upon release at the discretion of probation and pay fines and fees totaling $155.00.
