FLANDERS –Firefighters and emergency medical personnel of the Flanders Fire Company #1 and Rescue Squad will hold a blood drive at the Flanders firehouse, 27 Main St., Flanders, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 23. The drive will help replenish blood supplies after the holidays.

“The Flanders Fire Company #1 and Rescue Squad is all about neighbors helping neighbors,” said Fred Detoro Jr., president of association that oversees the fire company. “This is another opportunity to do that. Like fighting a fire, donating blood can save a life.”

The blood drive will be conducted by Community Blood Services, which supplies local and area hospitals with blood and blood products. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may donate blood in New Jersey. Detoro said people can get more information or make a reservation by calling (201) 251-3703.

More information about the Flanders Fire Company #1 and Rescue Squad is available by calling (973) 584-7805 or clicking on www.flanders-fire-rescue.org.
