VERNON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – More than 250 athletes came up north to Mountain Creek to compete in the 2017 Special Olympics New Jersey Winter Games.
Athletes competed in snow shoeing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, speed skating and cross country skiing over the two day competition which ended on Tuesday.
Officers from Newton, Hardyston and the New Jersey State Police enjoyed the opportunity to assist at the Special Olympics New Jersey 2017 Winter Games.
Ptl. Shawn Burke, Ptl. Ken Teets and Sgt. Mike Monaco helped present medals to the athletes during the award ceremony.
“It was a great 2 days of competition at Mountain Creek and Skylands Ice World. While we couldn’t control the weather, we made up for it through the effort and passion of every volunteer, coach, and athlete. Thanks to all sponsors and hosts for their generous support,” Special Olympics New Jersey posted on their Facebook page.
