Origin of fatal fire in Parsippany may be electrical, prosecutor says

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Parsippany Police Chief of Police Paul Philipps have announced they are investigating the cause of a fatal fire in Parsippany that took the life of a 64-year-old Parsippany man on Wednesday.

At 4:19 am, there was a report of a residential fire at 300 Parsippany Road in Parsippany-Troy Hills, resulting in one death. The early morning fire occurred at the Colonial Heights apartment complex off Parsippany Road, Knapp said.

The investigation has been completed and the cause is undetermined at this time; however, the origin is believed to be on the kitchen floor in the area of electrical appliances.

“There is no indication of criminal activity,” Knapp said.

Prosecutor Knapp would like to thank the Parsippany Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Section, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson/Environmental Crimes and Major Crimes Units, and the responding fire departments for their efforts during this incident.
