Hackettstown’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is this Sunday, police issue traffic alert

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) —The Hackettstown Business Improvement District invites residents from across the tri-state area to enjoy a day of music, food and dancing all with Irish flare this Sunday, March 12 for the 8th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The parade will kick off at 3:30 pm with Grand Marshal Michael Lavery leading numerous participants including Irish dance groups, Irish bands, community groups, bagpipes, drums, Centenary University clubs and groups, animals, Hackettstown and surrounding area fire departments and rescue squads, as well as hometown favorites Junior and Senior Colonial Musketeers and the Hackettstown Community Band.

This parade is pet-friendly, with a special pet costume contest sponsored by Doggie Styleashes. Pets will be invited to walk the parade as St. Patrick and Irish Heritage costume contestants after judging.

The BID is encouraging floats as part of participation, too. There will be a parade float contest as in past years, in St. Patrick and Irish Heritage theme and open to designers’ creativity. For more information visit hackettstownbid.com.

Thousands of people lined the streets or participated in last year’s parade.

Hackettstown Police issued a traffic advisory for the day of the parade, advising visitors that Route 46 (Main Street) between Liberty Street and Warren Street and Route 182 (Mountain Avenue) between Route 46 (Main Street) and Victoria Lane will be closed at 3:15 p.m.

Police officers will be on scene directing traffic around the road closures.

There will also be no parking on the following streets starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Any vehicles parked in these areas will be ticketed and towed.

Route 46 between Grand Avenue and Warren Street.

Washington Street between Church Street and Valentine Street.

Valentine Street between Route 46 and Beatty Street.

Madison Street between Valentine Street and Grand Avenue.

Monroe Street between Valentine Street and Grand Avenue.

Jefferson Street between Valentine Street and Grand Avenue.

Washington Street between Warren Street and Bells Lane.

Victoria Lane between Route 182 and Mitchell Road

Bells Lane between Route 182 and Washington Street.
