Sunday is going to be another cold day with a stray snow shower or flurry possible that could leave a dusting before a powerful nor’easter is set to deliver Northwest New Jersey as much as 18 inches of snow and possible blizzard conditions on Tuesday.
All of Northwest New Jersey is under a winter storm watch for Monday night and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
As much as 10 – 18 inches of snow could fall in Northwest New Jersey, according to WeatherWorks.
High temperatures on Monday will be near 32, with lows in the teens to lower 20s. Tuesday will have a high near 30.
The heavy snow will quickly overspread the area during the pre-dawn hours on Tuesday with 1.5-3.0″ per hour rates expected through the early afternoon.
Near blizzard conditions will be possible at the height of the storm with 0.25 mile visibility and frequent gusts 35mph for 3 hours as well as prolonged blowing and drifting of snow.
The heavy snow may come to a fairly abrupt end in the afternoon, however light snow and snow showers will continue to threaten Tuesday night as well as into Wednesday.
