GREEN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – Fire crews battled a two-alarm fire in an abandoned building in Green Township Thursday evening.

The fire was reported shortly after 8:00 p.m. in an abandoned building at the end of Stuyvesant Rd, which is located behind Pub 517.

A tanker task force brought water to a pumper in the parking lot of Pub 517, then sent it by a six inch line down a dirt road to another engine where the firefighters worked to put out the fire.

The fire was reportedly under control just before 9:00 p.m.

This is the third fire that has occurred on the same property in less than a year. Two separate fires at an abandoned buildings were reported on July 21, 2016 and on September 26, 2016.

The Sussex County fire marshal and arson unit were requested to the scene along with a K-9 unit. The New Jersey Park Police and State Police were on the scene. There is no word on what caused the fire.

Multiple fire departments including Green Township, New Jersey Forrest Fire Service, Fredon and Allamuchy Township were on the scene. Allamuchy-Green and Hackettstown First Aid Squads also assisted.
