82-year-old Great Meadows man charged after uncorking and drinking from wine bottle in parking lot

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – An 82-year-old man was charged  after he was observed drinking outside a Hackettstown liquor store Friday morning.

At 9:18 a.m., a town officer was on routine patrol of the Shoprite Wines & Spirits, located at 80 Main St, and observed a male in a pickup truck popping the cork on a wine bottle, police said.

The officer then observed the male take a long sip out of the bottle, police said.

The suspect was identified as John Klimas of Great Meadows, NJ. The officer observed a 1.5 Liter of Liberty Creek pink Moscato by his right leg, police said.

Klimas was charged with consumption of alcohol in public and was released pending a court appearance.
