Mt. Olive High School Student Artists Honored

Morris County- Mount Olive High School students were recently big winners in the art invitational competition sponsored by the school’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society. Tiara Herpriyonggo took home top honors, winning Best in Show. She also was offered an $11,000 annual scholarship (for four years) to Maine College of Art and a $2,500 annual scholarship (for four years) to Marywood University.

Matthew Sehwani was MOHS’ other notable honoree. He was offered a $10,000 annual scholarship (for four years) to Montserrat College of Art.

Other winners included Julia Hutchinson-Lundy (1st place award for sculpture), Rachel Puglia (2nd place award in the open category and an annual $2,500 scholarship to Marywood University (for four years), Irina Lazouski (2nd place award for photography), Jared Folkerts (3rd place award for painting and a $3,000 annual scholarship (for two years) to Delaware College of Art and Design, Daniel Izquierdo (a $1,200 pre-college scholarship to Delaware College of Art and Design), and Jessica Murr (a $1,500 pre-college scholarship to Montserrat College of Art).

In the annual art competition, 140 pieces of high school student artwork were on display – 10 from each of the 14 participating school districts.

A total of $320,000 in scholarships was awarded. This was the competition’s 31st year.
