NJ man cuts in line at gas pumps, pulls knife on employee

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Somerset County man was charged after he allegedly cut in line and pulled a knife on a gas station employee Monday morning.

Angel Soto, 34, of Bound Brook, NJ was charged with simple assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to possess a weapon and disorderly conduct, police said.

At 11:46 a.m., town police responded to the Citgo Gas Station, located at 17 Route 57, in reference to a verbal dispute between two people and involving a knife. Prior to the officers arriving, the suspect had left the scene, police said.

A Mansfield Twp. police officer then located the suspect’s vehicle travelling west on Route 57. The officer stopped the vehicle with assistance from the Washington Twp. Police (Warren County) on Route 57 near the Washington Twp. line, police said.

Through an investigation it was determined that Soto had a verbal argument with an employee about Soto cutting in front of other customers that were waiting in line to get fuel, police said.

Soto showed then showed the knife with the blades exposed to the employee, police said.

Soto was then lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.

Assisting at the scene was the Washington Twp Police (Morris County).
