ROXBURY TWP, NJ (Morris County) – Joseph Franklin, who is a retired Lieutenant from the Roxbury Twp Police Department, remains in critical condition today after he was injured in a bicycle crash during the Police Unity Tour on Monday, May 9.
Far Hills police responded to Route 202 at Fox Hunt Court at 12:56 p.m. on Monday on a report of a downed cyclist. Before the police officers arrived on the scene, the cyclist had already been taken to the hospital by an ambulance traveling with the Police Unity Tour, police said.
Franklin is currently receiving treatment at Morristown Medical Center.
Franklin was injured during the first day of the bike ride to Washington D.C. in honor of officers killed in the line of duty, Roxbury police said in a Facebook post.
