HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Three men are facing drug charges after allegedly smoking marijuana in a vehicle in the Centenary University Friday morning.
At 2:26 a.m., a town police officer was on routine patrol of the Founders Hall parking lot at Centenary University, when the officer observed a vehicle with its daytime running lights on and the windows fogged over, police said.
“As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver side door opened, a puff of smoke was observed and the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana,” police said.
Through a police investigation it was determined that Steven Vazquez,21, of Summit, Pa, Audwin Newell JR, 21, of Saddle Brook, NJ and Jason Sutton, 21, of Teaneck, NJ all were smoking from the same suspected marijuana cigarette, police said.
Sutton also had in his possession a silver grinder containing suspected marijuana residue, police said.
Vazquez was charged with possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and being under the influence of CDS.
Newell JR was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and being under the influence of CDS.
Sutton was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of CDS.
All three were released pending a court appearance.
