BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Somerset County man is facing numerous charges after he led police officers on a pursuit Saturday evening.
At 6:15 p.m., Sergeant Edward Koster of the Morris County Park Police Department was conducting a property check at the Tourne County Park in Boonton Township and during his patrol, he observed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked in the lot, police said.
Sgt. Koster made contact with the sole occupant, Orest Lopadchak, 37, and during this initial investigation, Lopadchak fled from the scene in his vehicle, police said.
A vehicle pursuit was then initiated by Sgt. Koster, which proceeded through several Morris County municipalities and with the assistance of several Morris County police departments, until Lopadchak’s vehicle became disabled on Interstate 80 in Parsippany.
Lodapchak then exited his vehicle and fled on foot, initiating a foot pursuit. He was eventually caught and arrested, police said.
Parsippany rescue squad transported Lodapchak to Morristown Medical Center for observation and/or treatment and after Lopadchak was released from the hospital, he was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility, police said.
Morris County Park Police Department officers, Ptl. Casey Petrocy and Ptl. Christian DiGiralomo, were treated at the scene by Parsippany E.M.S. for minor injuries and released, police said.
Lopadchak was charged by the Morris County Park Police Department with possession of suspected crack-cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, eluding, assault on law enforcement officers and resisting arrest.
A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Morris County Park Police Department’s Detective Bureau.
