FLANDERS, NJ (Morris County) – A baby deer was reunited with its mother Tuesday after being caught in a storm drain in Flanders.
At 4:15 p.m., township police, Flanders Fire Company, Mt Olive Animal control, Mt Olive Fire Marshal’s and the DPW responded to Kevin Dr. for a report of a baby deer in a storm drain.
Firefighters then climbed into the drain and they located the baby deer about 50 feet down the tube. The deer was then spooked and it was unsure which way to get out.
A fire hose was charged from a fire truck and a small amount of water got the deer to come down to the tube, where the animal control officer was able to pick it up.
Once animal control released the fawn, it was quickly reunited with its mother. The deer didn’t appear to have suffered any injuries.
