UPDATE: Human foot, ankle bones found in sneaker along river in Warren County

POHATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Township police are continuing an investigation into a grisly discovery that was made on Sunday evening.

At 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of River Road for a report of sneaker that was found with what appeared to be human bone inside.

When officers arrived they found a women’s size 9 white Reebok sneaker with a bone inside, police said.

Authorities said the bones are confirmed to be a human foot and partial ankle.

The remains are completely decomposed and only skeletal, police said.

The area was searched but no other remains were located, police said.

The Pohatcong Police and Morris County medical examiner’s office are continuing the investigation.
