Morris County’s Memorial Day Ceremony held on Wednesday featured the Freeholders presenting the Morris County Distinguished Military Service Medal to eight honored Morris County veterans in recognition of their service to the nation. The keynote speaker was Morris County resident, 92 year old World war II Air Force veteran Yalmar Johansson. He spoke with ‘RNJ about what Memorial Day means to him.
Johansson was a nose gunner on a B-24 bomber that was shot down over Austria. He was captured by German forces and held prisoner for five months.
