MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman who allegeldy drove away from police and then led them on a pursuit on Interstate 80 is now facing multiple charges.
On Tuesday at 11:22 p.m., a township officer was on routine patrol when he observed a 2004 Honda traveling east on Route 46 with its high beam headlights activated, not dimming them for approaching vehicles, police said.
The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop with the vehicle in the area of the Budd Lake Car Wash and made contact with the driver, who identified herself as Lisa Roth. She advised the officer that she did not have her driver’s license, police said.
The officer checked the DMV system for a driver’s license for Roth, and a check of the DMV photograph was not a match for the female. As the officer was searching the DMV files, a warning was found that a female identified as Michele Reid-Pasion, 43, of Wharton, NJ was using Lisa Roth as an alias. A check of Reid-Pasion’s license showed an active N.C.I.C. no bail warrant for her arrest, police said.
Reid-Pasion was asked to exit the vehicle to continue the investigation and she refused. The officer ordered her out of the vehicle again and she then reached for the ignition of the vehicle. The officer reached into the vehicle to attempt to prevent the female from starting the vehicle and as the officer leaned into the vehicle, she drove away at a high rate of speed, throwing the officer to the ground, police said.
The officer pursued the vehicle onto Interstate 80 east, where the female then abruptly attempted to exit the highway onto the exit 27 ramp. She lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway, and coming to a rest on the grass, police said.
Reid-Pasion ran from the scene, and after a brief foot chase, she was taken into custody. She was positively identified as Michele Reid-Pasion and was found to be in possession of suspected heroin, hypodermic needles, and drug paraphernalia both on her person and inside of the vehicle. She was transported to Hackettstown Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.
Reid-Pasion was charged with eluding police with a motor vehicle, aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, possession of CDS schedule I-IV, hindering own apprehension, resisting arrest, possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of paraphernalia, eluding police, improper use of multiple beam headlamps, maintenance of lamps, failure to inspect, failure to exhibit documents, failure to comply with direction of officer, failure to stop and yield for emergency vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, improper passing, failure to signal lane change, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, throwing debris from vehicle, lamps required, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and driving while suspended.
Upon discharge from the hospital, Reid-Pasion will be lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility ending a court hearing.
