MADISON, NJ (Morris County) – Hackettstown High School softball won its first ever sectional title in school history Wednesday afternoon.
Molly O’Brien had a two-run inside-the-park home run to highlight a three-run 10th inning to boost sixth-seeded Hackettstown Tigers to a 5-2 victory over top-seeded Hanover Park Hornets in the NJSIAA tournament final round of North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 at Madison Recreation Complex.
Also in the 10th inning, Alivia Duran had an RBI single for the tigers.
The tigers advanced to Thursday’s Group 2 semifinal and will face North Jersey, Section 1, Group 2 winner Ramsey Rams at Caldwell University at 1:30 p.m.

Hunter Ruppel, Cheyenne Scudder, Carly Curcio, and Alivia Duran each had two hits apiece for the tigers.
Nicole Carter pitched a six-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts to get the win.
