HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A Ledgewood man who was stopped by police after he made a pizza delivery is now facing drug charges.
Thomas Powell, 21, was charged with possession of CDS, possession of paraphernalia, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and failure to observe traffic control device, police said in a news release this week.
At 4:14 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, a borough police officer observed Powell’s vehicle, with an attached Domino’s pizza sign, allegedly make a right turn on red on River Styx Road, police said.
When Powell was stopped police, he told the officer that he just delivered pizza to a resident. The officer could smell the odor of raw marijuana, police said.
After a brief police investigation, it was found that Powell had marijuana in a pill bottle, a grinder and a glass stem pipe with raw marijuana packed in it, police said.
Powell was released pending a court appearance.
