June is Oral Health Month and on Friday, Morning Mike welcomed Dr. Gary Vander Vliet to the guest microphone to share some tips and information. First of all, Dr, Gary once again stressed that good oral health is vitally important to a person’s overall health. Poor oral health increases your chance of a heart attack or stroke, as well as increasing your risk of developing dementia by a third. Gum disease has been shown to increase the chance of premature birth and low birth weight. It can also be one of the many causes of infertility. It also makes it harder to control your blood glucose.
Of course, Dr. Gary also shared tips to maintain good oral health, including brushing your teeth at least twice a day, for at least three minutes, using a toothpaste that contains fluoride. He also had some great tips on diet and nutrition.
Dr. Vander Vliet reminds us, “The health of your mouth mirrors the condition of your body as a whole. When your mouth is healthy, chances are your overall health is also good.” Learn more, and see the complete list of information at thehightechdentist.com.
