Former Mount Olive High School student dies from shooting in Florida

CAPE CORAL, FL (Lee County) – A 20-year-old New Jersey woman has died from her injuries sustained in a shooting at the Barclay Bay condominium complex on Thursday morning.

Police identified the victim as Bridget Quinn, 20, of New Jersey. A GoFundMe page that has been started to help the family said Quinn passed away due to a tragic accident that occurred while on vacation in Florida.

According to Cape Coral Police, At 10:52 a.m., police responded to a report of a person shot at 4717 SW 13 Avenue, Unit 209. The Lee County property appraiser has the owner of the condo unit listed as a resident from Stanhope, NJ.

Two people sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Quinn later died at the hospital as a result of her injury, police said.

The identity of the other victim was not released.

Cape Coral Police Department Patrol Bureau officers, Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detectives, Forensics personnel were at the scene for several hours yesterday, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence.  A Ping4alert was sent, informing nearby residents and motorists of the shooting and increased police activity, police said.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and no arrests have been made, police said.

“As it is still very early on in this investigation, we are not able to go into detail regarding the specifics of this tragic incident.  We do want to re-emphasize the point that there is no danger to the public at large as a result of this incident or any events surrounding it.  Once we are able to complete some more of the technical aspects of the investigation, we will be able to release more details publicly,” said Lt. Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.

“On behalf of our entire Applebees crew, we are asking for your help in raising money to help get Bridget back to New Jersey & for the funeral costs. & we would like to send our deepest condolences to the Quinn family,” the GoFundMe page said.

As of Saturday morning, the page has raised more than $14,000.00
