MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A brother and sister K9 team put on their first free demonstration Sunday afternoon at Mansfield Township Elementary School.

The fundraiser was organized by Hackettstown Police Officer Christopher Laver and his partner Jada, 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, along with Mansfield Township Police Officer Greg Zytko and his partner Jax, 2-year-old Belgian Malinois.

This was the first time brother and sister had work together. Both were born and bred here in the United States. Jax graduated the K9 academy in May 2016 and Jada graduated in May 2017.

The demonstrations taught people about the responsibilities of police dogs and their human partners. It also gave officers and their dogs the chance to show off their skills including tracking and the ability to catch some “bad guys”.

The donations that were collected will go towards a bite suit for training. The suit will be used by Hackettstown and Mansfield Twp. Police.

There were many vendors as well as horse rides, live music and food.

Anyone wishing to donate can contact Ptl. Laver at 908-852-3302 or Ptl. Zytko at 908-689-6222.
