HAMPTON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) –A New Jersey woman was charged after she was allegedly found to be in possession of $1,000 worth of fireworks Monday evening.
At 8:58 p.m., Trooper Brian McNally stopped a car for a traffic violation at the intersection of State Highway 31 and Main St. in Hampton Borough, state police said.
During the stop, Tpr. McNally discovered the passenger, Deborah Golden, 51, of Browns Mills, NJ, was in possession of multiple boxes of fireworks, state police said.
Golden was arrested and charged with possession of illegal fireworks and released pending a court appearance, state police said.
“As the summer nights get longer and we get closer to Independence Day, we just want to remind everyone to please leave the fireworks to the experts. Not only is it dangerous but it is illegal to sell, use, or possess any kind of fireworks without a permit,” state police said.
