Morning Mike enjoyed a great interview Monday morning with Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri. Although Mr. Palminteri has more than 55 movies to his credit as an actor, writer, and director, the big news was his new hit musical now playing on Broadway, “A Bronx Tale.” Palminteri weaves an autobiographical tale of a young man who is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be. “A Bronx Tale” began as Palminteri’s one-man show. During the original Off Broadway and subsequent Los Angeles engagements, Robert De Niro came to see the show, and brought the story and star Palminteri to the screen in 1993. Now, an all-star creative team of Alan Menken (music), Glenn Slater (lyrics), Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks (co-directors) and Sergio Trujillo (choreography) bring “A Bronx Tale” to the musical stage at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).
