HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – An alleged burglar tried to make a quick getaway after he attempted to enter a residence but the victim still captured a photo of the suspect.

At 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, town police responded to the 600 block of East Baldwin St for a report of a male attempting to enter a residence, police said.

While the officers were responding, an officer observed a person matching the description on East Prospect St, police said.

A police investigation revealed that Matthew Dughi, 28, of Independence Twp., NJ was observed by the resident attempting to enter the home and looking into the windows, police said.

The resident photographed the suspect with her phone while he was walking away. The officers were able to determine it was Dughi through the photograph and description, police said.

Dughi was charged with fourth-degree criminal attempt burglary, third-degree possession of Suboxone and possession of hypodermic syringe. He was then lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
