NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – Hopatcong man has entered a guilty plea to 12 charges after he was arrested 5 times earlier this year, the prosecutor’s office said.
Caleb Bryson, 21, pleaded guilty to to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, theft, receiving stolen property, fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of burglary, two counts of forgery, shoplifting and resisting arrest before Judge William J. McGovern III at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 26.
In pleading guilty, Bryson admitted to using a stolen credit card to make two purchases at a Hopatcong Rite Aid on February 22, 2017. He admitted to being in possession of 14 Xanax pills and to shoplifting multiple bottles of alcohol from a Wantage liquor store on March 4, 2017. He admitted to conspiring with others to enter a vehicle in Hopatcong on March 6, 2017, and to taking jewelry and other items from the vehicle. He admitted to receiving a stolen iPhone on March 6, 2017, in Hopatcong. He admitted to conspiring with another to burglarize a Vernon home and to running and hiding from police officers who arrived to investigate the reported burglary on April 2, 2017, the prosecutor’s office said.
Bryson is scheduled to be sentenced on August 25, 2017.
