HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County woman is facing numerous drug charges after she was allegedly involved in two crashes, threw drugs out her car and hid heroin in the back of a police car last month.
Alexa Montanaro, 25, of Great Meadows was charged with possession of heroin, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, being under the influence of heroin, hindering, possession of hypodermic syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under the influence, driving while under the influence in a school zone, reckless driving, CDS in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and having no insurance.
At 6:49 p.m. on June 27, town police responded to Grand Ave for a report of a vehicle that struck the culvert and left the scene, police said.
An officer observed the vehicle on Grand Ave that matched the description and initiated a traffic stop, police said.
A police investigation revealed Montanaro injected heroin into her hands while sitting in the Dairy Queen parking lot, police said.
Montanaro then travelled north on Grand Ave in a 2011 BMW when she struck the culvert and left the scene. She then turned onto College View Drive and struck a mailbox while she was throwing out heroin and used syringes, police said.
When Montanaro was in the back of a patrol vehicle, she hid 17 full folds of heroin, 20 empty folds of heroin and a syringe in the back seat. She also hid a syringe in her bra and possessed suspected marijuana in cellophane, police said.
Montanaro was lodged in the Warren county Correctional Facility.
