MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Three people were charged after an alleged assault in Mansfield Village on Friday.

At 4:24 p.m., township police responded to the Home Depot parking lot on the report of a male who had been assaulted in Mansfield Village, police said.

Nicholas C. Heidel, 21, of Ocean Grove, NJ told police he was attacked by a male and female outside of an apartment in Mansfield Village, police said.

Heidel told police that a male punched him while the female hit him with a bat. The officer observed bruising and swelling on the male’s face, police said.

Through a police investigation it was determined the Heidel had stayed overnight at an apartment in the complex and left. He then sent harassing text messages to a third party at the apartment and returned, police said.

When Heidel returned, he was allegedly assaulted by Zachariah Beaverson, 36, and Amy Beaverson, 32.

Amy Beaverson was charged with aggravated assault with a cane and unlawful possession of a weapon. Zachariah Beaverson was charged with simple assault.

Heidel was charged with harassment.

All three were released pending a court appearance.
