Budd Lake man accused of selling cocaine, pot out of apartment

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 40-year-old Budd Lake was arrested last month after he allegedly was selling drugs out of his apartment.

On June 30 at 4:32 a.m., the Mt. Olive Twp. Investigations Division, with the assistance of Morris County SERT, executed two search warrants on two residences within the Hensyn Village Apartment Complex, police said.

The search warrants were the culmination of a large investigation by the Mt. Olive Twp. Investigations Division into narcotic distribution. Through the course of the investigation it was determined that an individual, identified as Luis Rivera, had been selling narcotics out of both residences. Both residences were entered without incident, and Rivera was taken into custody, police said.

The residences were searched as part of the warrant, and CDS including over one and a quarter ounce of cocaine, over one pound of marijuana, over one half ounce of marijuana oil, and 31 Morphine Sulfate pills were found, police said.

The search also yielded cash totaling $1,985.00, and a pellet gun. The cash is believed to be funds derived from narcotics sales, police said.

Rivera was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute CDS schedule I or II, possession with intent to distribute hash, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of CDS schedule I-IV, Possession of paraphernalia, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering the welfare of children.

Rivera was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court hearing.
