HARDWICK TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Authorities say a fire inside an attached garage Sunday evening may have been started by a car parked inside the garage.
At 6:23 p.m., Blairstown Hose Company and Ambulance Corp were dispatched to 79 Sunset Lake Road in Hardwick Township for a possible structure fire of a detached garage.
Deputy Chief Rumsey arrived on scene within minutes, and confirmed the fire was actually inside an attached garage. A 1st alarm assignment was requested, which included an engine from Knowlton Fire and Rescue and a cascade unit from Mountain Lake Fire Company.
Firefighters quickly went to work and extinguished the fire. The other departments arrived and helped with checking for extension into the house, salvage and overhaul.
“The fire is under investigation but it seems to have originated in the car parked in the garage,” according to the Blairstown Hose Company.
There were no injuries to the public or firefighters and the owners were able to return to the home once crews left the scene.
Assisting Blairstown Hose Company was the Hope Fire Department, Allamuchy Fire Department and Stillwater Fire Department.
