JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Authorities say two people were struck and killed while crossing the road Friday morning.
The deadly collision happened at 5:00 a.m. on Route 23 south in the area of Oak Ridge Road, Detective Joseph Kratzel said.
The initial investigation revealed Jeffery Carr, 48, of Hamburg, NJ was traveling on Route 23 south operating a GMC pick-up truck. His vehicle allegedly truck two pedestrians who were crossing Route 23 in the area of 2910 Route 23 South, Crystal Brook Residence, Kratzel said
Robert Coward, 48, Of Newton, NJ was also traveling on Route 23 south operating a GMC Pick-up truck and his vehicle also allegedly struck both pedestrians, Kratzel said.
Both pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian’s names have not been released until next of kin’s have not been notified, Kratzel said.
The crash is still under investigation.
