JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Jefferson Township police have identified the two pedestrians that were struck and killed by two vehicles Friday morning.
At 5:00 a.m., David Rackley, 50, of Long Valley, NJ and Andrei Gross, 70, of Madison, NJ were coming back from Dunkin’ Donuts and walking south on Route 23 in the area of Oak Ridge Road, Jefferson Twp. Detective Joseph Kratzel said.
As they crossed Route 23, in the area of 2910 Route 23 South, Crystal Brook Residence, both were struck in the left lane allegedly by Jeffery Carr, 48, of Hamburg, who was operating a GMC pick-up truck and was traveling south on Route 23, Kratzel said.
The impact threw Rackley and Gross into the right lane causing them to allegedly be struck by Robert Coward, 48, of Newton, who was operating a GMC pick-up truck and also traveling south on Route 23, Kratzel said.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene, Kratzel said.
