MORRIS PLAINS, NJ (Morris County) – The victims of Saturday’s shooting in Morris County have been identified as Laurel R. Chasmar, 28, of Morris Plains and Hassan Shahid, 32, of Jersey City, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said Monday.
The homicide of Chasmar was caused by gunshot wounds inflicted upon her. The suicide of Shahid was caused by a gunshot wound. The findings were made following an investigation conducted by the Morris County Medical Examiner.
In the early Saturday morning, law enforcement responded to the area of The Highlands at Morris Plains Apartments on The Buckley Way in Morris Plains following a report of possible gunshots in the area.
The body of Chasmar was found in Morris Plains. Shortly afterwards, the body of Shahid was found in Morris Township.
