CLEARWATER BEACH, FL (Pinellas County) – A Morris Township police officer saved the life of a drowning 2-year-old child Sunday afternoon while on vacation, Morris Township Police Captain Mark DiCarlo said.

Morris Township Police Sgt. Sean O’Hare was enjoying his vacation at Clearwater Beach, Florida, when he was “called into action,” DiCarlo said.

Sgt. O’Hare quickly recognized the commotion and distress surrounding the incident of a 2-year-old child that was drowning. The child was blue and not breathing when removed from the water. Sgt. O’Hare initiated CPR and was able to resuscitate the child, DiCarlo said.

“On behalf of the Pinellas County, Florida Emergency Services, and the Morris Township Police Department, we recognize the outstanding efforts of Sgt. Sean O’Hare. Thank You for being a true hero,” DiCarlo said.
