HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has been charged after he allegedly threatened two men with a knife last Thursday evening.
Steven Johnson, 30, of Hopatcong NJ, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and terroristic threats, police said.
At 8:33 p.m., two men went to check on a relative’s home on Cornell way, police said.
According to police, Johnson saw the two men at his neighbor’s home and he then took a remote control car and drove it by their car. When the men made eye contact with Johnson, he raised his arms and allegedly shouted “say something. The men did not say anything.
As the men began to leave, Johnson allegesly took out a knife with a blade around 3-4 inches long and approached the two men in their car. He then allegedly cursed and threatened the men, police said.
The men left and went to Hopatcong police headquarters to report the incident. At the same time the men came into headquarters, police received a call from Johnson’s father who was allegedly trying to throw his son out of the house, police said.
When the officers arrived at the home, Johnson gave them the knife and he allegedly stated he was very angry, police said.
Johnson was lodged in the Sussex County Jail.
