3 charged, 1 sought following police pursuit in Greenwich Twp.

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Two adults and a juvenile were charged and another juvenile is being sought following a police pursuit in Greenwich Township early Saturday morning.

Zaire L. Wheeler, 19 of Easton, PA was charged with second-degree resisting arrest, second-degree eluding, 27 counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree conspiracy, third-degree theft and third-degree resisting arrest; eluding.

Jowell Rooks, 18, of Alpha, NJ was charged with 27 counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree conspiracy, third-degree theft, third-degree resisting; eluding.

The juvenile was released to their guardian pending a court date and additional charges are pending.

At 6:23 a.m., township police were dispatched to the area of Thomas Carling Drive for the report of four male’s allegedly walking through a yard and then possibly stealing a truck, police said.

When officers arrived, they located the described vehicle and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Greenwich Street, police said.

The truck failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The truck eventually stopped on Sinclair Avenue in Pohatcong Township and all four suspects fled the vehicle, police said.

A foot chase ensued and a male juvenile was apprehended. Two other suspects were apprehended, and the third suspect was identified as a juvenile and remains wanted, police said.

Wheeler and Rooks were transported to the Warren County Jail and are to appear at the Warren County Superior Court House on Monday at 9:00 a.m., police said.

Several vehicles were burglarized throughout Greenwich and Pohatcong Township as well, and we urge victims to contact the department at 908-454-1010 to file a report, police said.

Assisting Greenwich Township were officers from Pohatcong, Lopatcong, Washington Township, Phillipsburg, Hackettstown, New Jersey State Police, and the public.
