(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announce the resumption of the Route 94 Mohican Road to Kerr Road Resurfacing Project which began in October 2015 in Warren County.
The project, which was put on hold for the winter after additional concrete joint work was identified, can continue now that there are more consistent temperatures. The resurfacing project will maintain one travel lane in each direction during construction to allow traffic to flow through the area and minimize the impact to motorists.
Beginning Wednesday, June 1st at 7 a.m. and working continuously through Friday, June 3rd, NJDOT is scheduled to temporarily close alternating lanes and shoulders along Route 94 between Blairstown and Frelinghuysen for the removal and reconstruction of a concrete slab. Once the initial highway preparation work is complete, the resurfacing project will require continued lane closures from Mohican Road in Blairstown to Kerr Road in Frelinghuysen.
The $2.7 million state-funded project is estimated to be completed by summer of 2016. NJDOT has designed the resurfacing work to be performed as a moving operation, closing only one side of the roadway at a time. It is expected the project will require local street detours for vehicles attempting to access Route 94. All local detours will be coordinated with the local authorities.
Variable message signs and detour signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the resurfacing project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road or ramp closures.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
