KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Two dogs were rescued by neighbors from a house fire on Stark Road in Knowlton Township Thursday morning.
The fire was reported at 59 Stark Rd shortly before 12:00 p.m.
Neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from a house across the street and then called the 911. Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company were then dispatched to the scene.
As black smoke filled the sky, which was visible from Pennsylvania, more units were dispatched. The structure was fully involved as flames shot through the windows.
Water tankers were requested from as far away as Allamuchy Twp., Mt. Bethel Volunteer Fire Department and the Portland Fire Department from PA. The Blairstown Hose Company # 1 and the Goodwill fire company, Hope Volunteer Fire Department, Mt. Lake Fire, Hackettstown Fire, Allamuchy fire and EMS along with Blairstown EMS and Stillwater EMS and Knowlton EMS also responded to the scene.
Due to the dwelling being surrounded by trees New Jersey Forest Fire Service also responded.
A rehabilitation tent was set up by Blairstown Rescue to supply the emergency personnel with water and food and to periodically check on their health as they fought the fire.
The house was deemed uninhabitable by officials and no injuries were reported.
Assisting at the scene was Warren County Fire Marshal Joe Lake.
