UPDATE: 2 Injured in Phillipsburg house explosion

PHILLIPSBURG N.J. – Emergency crews are still on the scene of a house explosion at 78 Filmore St in Phillipsburg.

The explosion was reported around 5:15 p.m Saturday.

Caleb Radwan of Easton, P.A. told RNJ he was coming home from a church event when he saw “Wires shaking then a loud pop kinda sounded like a gunshot.”

“I knew it was serious when I saw a bunch of police speeding to the house,” Radwan said.

One victim was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township for burns over 50 percent of his body.

Another victim suffered a minor injury and was being treated at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phillipsburg.

Authorities have said that everyone has been accounted for and the cause of the blast is still under investigation.

According to Red Cross New Jersey, there helping 3 families (9 people) with emergency assistance including temporary lodging as needed.

The Warren County HAZMAT team, the Hunterdon County Technical Rescue Task Force and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office assisted at the scene.
