NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – What started as a noise complaint Wednesday evening led to the arrest of two New Jersey residents.
Matthew Ollerenshaw, 31, of Phillipsburg was charged with obstructing the administration of law, hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes.
Christina Gagliardi, 33, of Brick was charged with obstructing the administration of law and hindering apprehension.
At 10:21 p.m., town police responded to an alleged noise complaint at a boarding house located on Main Street, Newton Police Lt. Robert Osborn said.
When police arrived, Gagliardi answered the door and indicated that a male, who also had been present within the apartment, had fled from police by jumping out of a 2nd story window upon becoming aware of the presence of police. Subsequently, it was learned that Gagliardi had provided a false name for this subject, Osborn said.
A check revealed that a NCIC warrant existed for Gagliardi out of Ocean County, NJ for contempt, failing to appear and she was taken into custody, Osborn said.
Further investigation by patrols located a male subject within the apartment who was attempting to hide under bed linens and blankets. At that time, he initially falsely identified himself as Matthew Walker, which was the same name that Gagliardi provided to police, Osborn said.
Subsequently, patrols determined that the male subject had provided a false name and officers responded back to the boarding house and located him within another apartment.
Shortly thereafter, he was accurately identified as Ollerenshaw and was then taken into custody on an active NCIC contempt, failure to appear warrant. A search incident to arrest revealed that he was in possession of 42 empty wax folds commonly used for storing heroin, as well as four syringes, Osborn said
Both were lodged in the Sussex County Jail.
