HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Hackettstown resident was charged after she allegedly stole a scarecrow off Main St early Sunday morning.

Amanda Farmer, 25, was charged with disorderly conduct.

At 2:08 a.m.. a town police officer was travelling on West Stiger St, when the officer observed Farmer on the sidewalk carrying a scarecrow decoration, police said.

The officer was aware that the scarecrow belonged to a local business and was on display at the intersection of Main St and Grand Ave for the Hackettstown BID’S Scarecrow Contest, police said.

Through a police investigation, it was determined that Farmer took the decoration without permission, police said.

Farmer was released pending a court appearance.
