SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man is facing drug charges after police allegedly find more than 50 wax folds of heroin during a traffic stop Friday evening.
Daniel Devine, 34, of Sussex, NJ was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 4:06 p.m., township police received a call of an erratic blue sedan heading north on Route 15. Officers Timothy Lynott and Steven Guido were dispatched to the area and stopped the vehicle on Route 15, police said.
As Officer Guido spoke with the driver, he observed the driver to be extremely nervous and unable to answer his questions, police said.
Officer Guido had the driver stand with Officer Lynott while he approached the passenger window to speak with Devine, police said.
While speaking with Devine, Officer Guido observed his pupils to be pinpoint, an indication of opiate use. Officer Guido also observed an empty wax fold on his lap, police said.
Police searched Devine and found several more wax packets containing suspected heroin, two empty folds and a cut straw. A search of the vehicle revealed a cigarette pack containing 57 full wax folds of heroin.
Devine took ownership of the heroin and was placed under arrest. He was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released.
