MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Bergenfield man has died after a crash with a tractor trailer in Mendham Township Wednesday morning.
At 7:50 a.m., township police, fire department and rescue squad responded to the intersection of Mendham Road West, also known as old Route 24, and Roxiticus Road for a serious motor vehicle accident with heavy entrapment, police said.
Anthony Echeverry, 28, was driving a van west on Route 24 when he struck the side of a tractor trailer tanker truck that was turning off of Roxiticus Road., police said.
Echeverry, was pronounced dead on scene and he was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The driver of the tractor trailer sustained no serious injuries and none of its contents leaked, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, police said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Echeverry Family during this tough time,” police said.
Assisting at the scene, was the Chester police, Chester fire department, Morristown fire department, Atlantic Healthcare MICU, Mendham Boro police, Mendham first aid, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office, also local and county DPW.
