MANSFIELD TWP, N.J. (Warren County) – Mansfield Twp Police officers showed restraint during an incident in which a suspect allegedly picked up a realistic-looking Uzi submachine gun.

Police responded to a house on Main St around 4:39 a.m. Friday to investigate a report of loud music and a possible gun shot.

According to Mansfield Twp police, Christopher McKenna, 32, was sitting on the front porch where he allegedly set a number of small items on fire and playing loud music.

As an officer began a conversation with McKenna, he picked up the toy gun which was missing the orange tip on the barrel. The officer drew his weapon and ordered McKenna to drop the gun. McKenna complied with the officers orders and was then taken into custody

The reported possible gunshot turned out to be a glass table that had shattered from the heat of a fire that was set on top of it, police said.

McKenna was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbance of the peace. McKenna was lodged in the Warren County Jail after failing to post $500.00 bail, police said. The bail also include a mental health evaluation.
