INDEPENDENCE, NJ (Warren County) – The Hackettstown High School Cheerleaders are in the process of making history, by being the first local squad ever to compete in the big leagues.

After lots of practice, and scoring a bid at the Pocono Regional Championships, the Tiger Cheerleading Squad will be competing at the National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando Florida on February 10-11, 2018.

“The girls have been working since October to get themselves ready for nationals. They earned their bid. They keep practicing. They attend multiple competitions to make sure that they are ready to compete on the National Level,” says Hackettstown High School Cheer Coach, Amanda Kinney.

Before the competition, the girls are inviting folks to join them for a fundraising breakfast at the Independence Fire House located at  24 Cemetery Rd, Great Meadows, NJ  this Sunday, January 14th , from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The proceeds from the breakfast are crucial, and every dollar will help support the squad’s record breaking trip to the most prestigious high school cheerleading competition in the United States.

“They will be using any donations they receive to get themselves down to Florida, since there was a quick turn around this year. There are financial needs for these girls to compete,” explains Kinney.

Tickets to enter the breakfast will cost adults $7 dollars, seniors and children $5 dollars, and children under 5 eat free, says Kinney.

If you would like to donate, but can’t make it to the fundraiser visit the Hackettstown High School Cheerleader’s GoFundMe page.
