Deer saved after falling through ice in Harmony Twp.

HARMONY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Firefighters and state troopers came to the aid of a deer after it had fallen through ice on a frozen pond Thursday.

When troopers Ricardo Rodriguez and Joshua Smart arrived at the pond, located on Allens Mill Road in Harmony Township, they observed the deer struggling to get its rear legs out of the water.

Firefighters Kyle McKenna and John Latourette of the Harmony Township Volunteer Fire Company boarded a small metal boat and slowly made their way to the helpless doe.

After the firemen successfully loaded the deer into the boat, Troopers Rodriguez and Smart used a rope to pull the boat to safety.

The deer was placed on dry land and thankfully no one was injured during the rescue.
