MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A GoFundMe account has been set up to help two Hackettstown children who lost their parents in a horrific crash Wednesday.

Over $20,000 has been raised so far to help the kids.

Parents John Rodriguez, 52, and Dawn Rodriguez, 49, of Hackettstown, NJ were in a Honda Ridgeline driving westbound near Exit 25 around 4:30 p.m. when they were struck by the dump truck, according to New Jersey State Police.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The dump truck was traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 when its tire blew and veered into the westbound lanes, state police said.

The dump truck also struck a box truck before overturning on the westbound side of Interstate 80.

The couple’s daughter Selena Rodriguez just started college and their son Victor Rodriguez just started high school.

“They were a beautiful couple, and even more so a beautiful family,” organizer Monika Harned wrote on the page.

“No amount of money can help ease the pain they are experiencing, but the least we can do is help these two brave teenagers with funeral costs and anything else they may need in these hard months ahead. Any amount is appreciated,” Harned wrote.
