HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A 56-year-old woman is charged with assault after she allegedly kicked an officer during an arrest Saturday afternoon.
Jennifer Carlucci of Hopatcong, NJ was charged with assault on law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and obstruction.
At around 2:56 p.m., police responded to an apartment on the 400 block of River Styx Rd on a report of a dispute, Hopatcong Police Lieutenant Meghan McCluskey said.
When officers arrived, they heard a woman screaming from an apartment in the building, McCluskey said.
Officers knocked on the apartment door and Carlucci cursed at them. She then refused to open the door completely so she was asked to step in the hallway of the building, McCluskey said.
Once in the hallway, Carlucci approached Ptl. Feinberg, with her fists up in a fighting stance. Ptl. Bosland told her she was under arrest and began to handcuff her at which point she began to resist arrest, McCluskey said.
Carlucci continued to resist, curse and kick Ptl. Bosland during the arrest, McCluskey said.
A witness at the scene told officers that Carlucci was allegedly drunk and that’s why she was acting out of control, McCluskey said.
Carlucci was transported back to police headquarters where she was processed and released, McClusky said.
